Email efficiency - ruthless or freeform?

February 14th, 2008 by alex

I just stumbled on an old post at Tom Raftery’s blog referencing this article on Macworld. A ruthlessly efficient way of taking back control from your email client. Sadly I can’t see myself sticking to this any more than I stick to the “one beer a night” rule I tried to impose on myself a good while ago..

I prefer the good chaos of gmail where everything sits wherever it sits (yes I do have a few labels and rules set up, but only to keep regular low-priority stuff out of the inbox.) If I want to find something, I just type what I can remember about it into the search box. Assuming I can remember something about it, I’ll dig it out sooner or later even if its years old. Usually sooner.

Matt Cutts posted some cracking Gmail tips recently. I know a few people (OK, me included,) who’d benefit from the USB breathalyser : )
